Erasmus+ BIP „Summer Media Studio“ (SMS) is a collaboration platform for students and young professionals in the audiovisual arts industry. The platform, created by the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, helps the participants gain international contacts, improve their professional skills, face and analyze the changes in the industry, and create opportunities for future artistic initiatives. The main SMS event—a two-week residential workshop—will take place in Neringa, Lithuania, for the 26th time this year. Here, the participants will have the possibility to explore the unique locations of the Curonian Spit and make seven short films.
This year, the theme of the workshop is "Mastering of Scriptwriting". Internationally acclaimed mentors will give theoretical lectures and practical seminars, during which participants will be able to enrich their knowledge of screenwriting, building drama lines, perfect dialogue writing and develop their film characters. After a pitching session, seven ideas will be picked to become films. Participants will be formed into creative teams consisting of a director and/or screenwriter, a cinematographer, a producer, and a sound designer. Composers and editors are also welcome to the project and will be added as equal team members. In all stages of pre-production, production, and post-production, participants will be consulted by mentors and technical consultants. The finale of the workshop will be public films’ screening and awards. Participants will also receive all needed information and consultations about film distribution and festivals’ application processes. We highly encourage participants to use this opportunity and spread their works globally!
